This week at our Men’s Group, three of the gents tried something a bit different. Decorating wooden trinket boxes. Armed with lots of different themes to choose from, they each came up with their own designs. By the end, everyone had a finished box they were proud to take home.

Our Men’s Group here at Teams and Bensham Community Care, held every Monday and Thursday, is a great place for local men to meet, enjoy a hot, two course meal, try something new and make friends. There's accessible minibus transport from home and back again too, to make it easy to attend.
The finished boxes look great, but craft activities like this do so much more. They help encourage self-expression, they're calming and good for mental wellbeing, and give a real sense of achievement when the project is finished. Most importantly, when done in a group setting like ours, they help bring people together over shared experiences, encourages conversation and strengthens friendships.

From mid morning to mid afternoon, our men's groups provide a relaxed space to get together for a cuppa and a chat before lunch, and they offer plenty of company. Our activity coordinators ensure a wide range of activities are available to suit everyone. We play games and have quizzes, crafts, history books, music and memory projects, and also celebrate special events, and head out on the occasional trip. The group is open to older gentleman in the community who’d like a friendly place to spend a few hours and try something new.
