At our lunch clubs and men’s groups, we believe that staying active, connected, and engaged is just as important as a good meal and a friendly chat.

Every week, our members come together for lunch and friendship, and to enjoy a variety of activities from classic games and quizzes, to creative crafts and bingo, all designed to boost wellbeing, confidence, and companionship.

Here’s a little look at what we get up to and why these activities make such a positive difference.

Elderly women play dominoes at a table with a green mat. A Union Jack mug and snacks are visible, creating a cozy, focused atmosphere.

Draughts and Board Games: Keeping the Mind Sharp

Traditional games like draughts, chess or connect four bring out a friendly competitive spirit while giving the brain a gentle workout. They encourage concentration, memory, and problem-solving while sparking laughter and conversation across the table. Playing games together helps build social bonds and can even boost self-esteem by giving people a sense of accomplishment.

Tabletop Curling: Fun and Movement in One

A firm favourite, tabletop curling is a fantastic low-impact activity that gets everyone involved. It’s great for hand-eye coordination and balance, and because it can be played seated too, it’s accessible for everyone. The teamwork and light-hearted competition help people feel connected and energised, especially when the cheers go up for a winning shot!

Dominoes: Conversation and Connection

There’s something timeless about a game of dominoes. It encourages gentle concentration and fine motor skills while providing an easy, relaxed way to chat and connect. Many of our members have played for years, so it’s also a wonderful way to share memories and stories from the past.

Arts and Crafts: Creativity for the Soul

Our arts and crafts sessions are all about creativity and expression. Whether it’s painting, card-making, or simple seasonal crafts, these activities promote relaxation, boost mood, and provide a sense of pride and purpose. They’re also a chance to learn new skills and share inspiration with others and often lead to some beautiful creations.

Bingo: A Classic for a Reason

It wouldn’t be a lunch club without bingo! This much-loved game is brilliant for memory and attention, but more than that, it brings energy, excitement, and plenty of laughter. The shared anticipation as numbers are called creates a lovely sense of togetherness and of course, everyone loves a small prize or two!

More Than Just Activities

Every game, craft, and chat at our lunch clubs and men’s groups is part of something bigger. We're a a community. Taking part in group activities helps reduce feelings of loneliness, encourages routine, and supports both mental and physical wellbeing. Most importantly, it helps older people feel valued, included, and connected.

So whether it’s tabletop curling, shouting “Bingo!”, or simply sharing a cup of tea after a game of dominoes, there’s always something to look forward to and always someone to share it with.
