As we wave goodbye to another year, we can’t help but smile at all the wonderful memories made across our lunch clubs and men’s groups.

From wonderful activities and hearty meals to new friendships blossoming each week, 2025 has been full of connection, warmth, and community.

Celebrating 2025: Food, Friendship, and Fun

This year, our lunch clubs and men’s groups have been busier than ever. We’ve welcomed new faces and shared countless cups of tea and stories.

Our lunch clubs, held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and Men's Groups every Monday and Thursday have continued to be a weekly highlight for many. It's a place to enjoy a freshly cooked meal, good company, and plenty of laughs. Seasonal celebrations like our Easter parties, Halloween week have brought everyone together, while daily games, quizzes, and activities have kept our spirits high all year long.

The Men’s Groups: Friendship, Purpose, and Good Company

Our men’s groups have continued to grow in popularity. Each week, men aged 65 years and over come together to chat, share experiences, and take part in activities from games and quizzes to outings, DIY projects, and even the odd fish and chip lunch!

They’re a great opportunity to laugh, talk, and feel part of something positive. Many of our members say joining the group has given them new confidence and a renewed sense of purpose.

Volunteering: The Heart of Our Lunch Clubs and Men’s Groups

Our incredible volunteers have been the heart and soul of everything we did throughout 2025.

From serving cups of tea, to assisting with activities, or simply sharing a friendly chat, their kindness and commitment have made every day special.

Thanks to them, our lunch clubs and men’s groups have continued to be welcoming spaces for every attendee. We’ve seen so many acts of care. A smile, a helping hand, a listening ear, all of which make a big difference.

As we look ahead to 2026, we’d love to welcome new volunteers to join our friendly team.

Looking Ahead: Exciting Plans for 2026

After such a successful 2025, we’re excited for what’s coming next. In 2026, we’ll be continuing with our activities, celebration days and of course our daily lunches and transport service, and all of the other regular favourites our group members love.

In late winter/early spring, we'll also be moving into our new home at the Holy Rosary Parish House! It's an exciting move for us, and whilst we'll be very sad to leave our much loved Bolam Street centre, the new space will be freshly refurbished and have all of the facilities to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.
